From 1968 until his retirement in 2000, Carlyle Weiss was a professor of the Music Arts for the University of Wyoming where he directed choral activities and many regional, national and international concert tours. Weiss founded the Wyoming State Choir and conducted several Japanese choirs while on sabbatical in Japan in 1987.
